Wanted fugitive charged with sexual assault

An expired vehicle registration led to the arrest of a fugitive wanted for sexual assault.

Police pulled over a gold Oldsmobile around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday driving in the 4100 block of Tanglewood Lane that was seen with an expired registration, according to an Odessa Police Department news release.

During the traffic stop, the back right passenger, 19-year-old Corey Salter, exited the vehicle and fled through the Regency Square Apartments complex, 4100 Tanglewood Lane, but was later caught and placed into custody, the release stated.

Salter reportedly had a second-degree felony warrant out of Tarrant County for sexual assault, which he was charged with, as well as evading arrest, a class A misdemeanor.

Jail records show Salter was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Wednesday and has a bond of $5,000.
