The Cotton Flat overpass over Interstate 20 in Midland was closed again Thursday due to a bridge strike.
Gene Powell, Odessa District of Texas Department of Transportation Spokesperson, said this is the third time the bridge has been closed due to a bridge strike since October.
The bridge was originally to will remain closed at least overnight as workers assessed the bridge for damage, but it reopened the same day.
Powell added that the bridge strike was caused by an oversized load.
This will be the fourth bridge closure in the Permian Basin this year, and one of two bridges that are actively closed currently.
