Ector Middle School went into shelter in place at approximately 3:20 p.m. Thursday.
It was reported to campus police officers by a teacher that a student had a gun in their backpack.
Ector County Independent School District police removed the student and backpack from the classroom. An unloaded pellet gun was found in the student’s backpack, a news release said.
The student will be disciplined per the Student Code of Conduct.
