Man facing charges after high-speed chase

Deputies engaged in a high-speed pursuit with the suspect of a vehicle theft Wednesday morning, an Ector County Sheriff’s Office press release stated.

Deputies noticed a red 2010 Mustang reported stolen around 8:05 a.m. Wednesday near Kermit Highway and Pleasant Avenue, the release detailed, and upon initiating a traffic stop, the suspect, 45-year-old Christopher Davidson, attempted to evade the officers, leading them on a chase with speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour.

Davidson at one point drove into Midland County near State Highway 158 and Farm to Market Road 1788 before turning west back into Ector County on State Highway 191, the release stated.

Deputies quickly captured Davidson on foot near La Quinta Inn, 4122 Faudree Road, after one of the Mustang’s tires went flat, the release detailed.

Davidson was charged with evading arrest and detention, a third-degree felony, and unauthorized use of a vehicle, a state jail felony.

The release stated the stolen Mustang was returned to the Odessa Police Department as part of their stolen vehicle investigation.

Jail records show Davidson was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Wednesday with bond yet to be set.
