Off-duty officer spots man with cocaine in bar bathroom

A man is facing a felony count after an off-duty Odessa police officer reportedly found the man in the bathroom holding a bag of cocaine Sunday.

The officer was working security around 12:57 a.m. Sunday at Halftime Grill & Cantina, 2120 Andrews Highway, when he went into the restroom and saw the man, 28-year-old Fernando Granados Valenzuela Jr., holding a bag of cocaine, according to an OPD news release. Valenzuela was reportedly found to be in possession of five more individual bags of cocaine, weighing around 6.53 grams in total.

Valenzuela was charged with delivery of cocaine, a first-degree felony, the release stated.

Jail records show Valenzuela was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Sunday and was released the same day on a $50,000 bond.
