Three more area athletes earned qualifying wild card spots Tuesday to the UIL State Track Meet May 6-8 in Austin.
A wild card spot is given to the best third-place finisher out of all regional meets.
Wink’s Danni Akers will compete in the Class 2A girls high jump, while McCamey’s Denise Quinonez will compete in the 400 meter dash after finishing third at the Region I-2A Meet in Canyon.
Van Horn’s Jaymie Sanchez also earned a wild-card selection after finishing third in the 400 at the Region II-1A Meet in San Angelo.
In another late addition, the Andrews 1600 meter relay team also earned a spot in the state meet after finishing third in Lubbock.
