ABILENE The Permian boys soccer team advanced to the regional round of the playoffs after defeating LD Bell 2-1 in the area round Friday at Shotwell Stadium.
The Panthers, who were coming off a 3-1 win in extra time on Tuesday over El Paso Franklin in the bi-district round of the playoffs, took a 2-0 lead and then held on for the one-goal victory over the Blue Raiders.
Permian had goals scored by Johnny Cuellar and Ernesto Melendez.
The Panthers will next face El Paso Eastlake next week.
