HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Permian runs away from Lubbock Monterey in home opener

 

 

The Permian boys basketball team won its home opener, defeating Lubbock Monterey 78-53 Friday at the Permian Fieldhouse.

Permian got out to a quick lead against the Plainsmen, closing out the first quarter with a 19-13 lead.

The Panthers used the second period to widen the gap, outscoring the Plainsmen 25-11 to take a 20-point lead into the halftime break.

Jamobrione Anderson was Permian’s leading scorer at the end of the first half with 13 points, followed closely by Brian Huitron who had nine points.

The Panthers kept up the offensive attack throughout the third quarter, outscoring the Plainsmen 20-10 to lead by 30 points.

Anderson added seven more points to his scoring total in the second half to lead the Panthers.

Permian (3-0) continues nondistrict play, against Colleyville Heritage, at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Abilene.
