Trustees to hear TIP plans

The Ector County ISD Board of Trustees will meet in a workshop at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the first-floor boardroom of the Administration Building, 802 N. Sam Houston Ave., to hear several presentations.

There will be a presentation and discussion of the 2022-2023 Targeted Improvement Plans (TIPs) led by Director of Leadership Susan Hendricks.

The process for TIP development will be shared and principals will share goals and strategies within their schools’ TIPs, supplemental agenda material said.

The Texas Education Agency requires TIPs for schools who perform in the bottom 5% of Domain III-Closing the Gaps in the accountability system. This year, the campuses are

Cavazos, Dowling, Downing, Ireland and Sam Houston. The board is required to approve Targeted Improvement Plans every year.

Trustees also will hear about the district’s facilities program and dyslexia.

She will provide an overview of the dyslexia program including information regarding how students are screened, how they are served, the curriculum used in the dyslexia classroom, the district dyslexia therapists and a dyslexia grant.
