OEL offers voter guide

The political action committee known as Odessans for Ethical Leadership is offering a voter guide for local elections for 2022.

According to the group’s website, OEL asked all local candidates to give brief answers that included a brief bio, top priorities once in office and previous experience.

The voter guide can be found here: tinyurl.com/2p952rwp.

The guide includes the candidates running for 244th District Judge, Ector County Judge, Ector County District Clerk, Ector County Commissioner for Precinct 2, Ector County Commissioner for Precinct 4, Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1, Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2, Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3 and Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4.

OEL detailed each candidate’s answers to those questions are reproduced verbatim, however, responses that exceeded the pre-disclosed word limitation were cut to be within limitation.

The political action committee was formed in late 2021 as its purpose is to provide voters facts on important issues facing them and finding leaders with integrity.

OEL was spearheaded by a group of Odessans, which included former Odessa City Council member Dewey Bryant, in response to a misinformation campaign about the $95 million in certificates of obligation to rehabilitate the city’s water treatment plant.
