Sales tax lower than 2021 number

The City of Odessa’s sales tax check, which reflects sales made in December, was 2.46% lower than last December’s.

According to a City of Odessa news release, the city just received a check of nearly $5.8 million and the Odessa Development Corporation will receive slightly more than $1,153,000 of it.

The year-to-date total sales tax revenue for FY2022 is up nearly 34% or nearly $5 million compared to the budgeted amount expected at this point in the fiscal year, according to the city. The city has budgeted $37,500,000 in net sales tax revenues for the whole fiscal year.

According to Medical Center Hospital, the hospital will receive just under $4.4 million in sales tax, an increase of about $45,000 from this time last year.
