Odessa man indicted on drug charges

An Odessa man was arrested last week, five months after Odessa police officers said they found 400 grams of THC products and 400 grams of psychedelic mushrooms in his home.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, detectives received information someone calling himself “Ko Rillo” was selling large amounts of THC products and they launched an undercover investigation.

Detectives confirmed “Ko Rillo” was Brandon Carrillo, 24, and figured out what he routinely drove and where he lived, the report stated.

On Oct. 5, 2023, detectives arranged to buy THC products from Carrillo and they detained him while he was on the way to the pre-arranged meeting place, the report stated.

The detectives found the THC and the mushrooms at his home along with a Remington 870 with an sawed off barrel and a Smith and Wesson M&P 40 that had been reported stolen, the report stated.

Carrillo told detectives he’s traded kids drugs for the Smith & Wesson, the report stated.

According to the report, Carrillo admitted to selling the THC because he didn’t have a job.

Carrillo was indicted March 11 on possession of marijuana, possession of a prohibited weapon and theft of a firearm charges. He was booked into the Ector County jail March 16. He’s being held on a U.S. Marshal’s hold.
