Man charged with choking girlfriend in 18-wheeler

A man was arrested after he choked his girlfriend in the sleeper cab of his 18-wheeler, an Ector County Sheriff’s Office affidavit detailed.
Tracy Betts, 36, was charged with assault family violence by strangulation, a third-degree felony.
The assault was reported at 11 a.m. Monday in the 2700 block of W. 44th Street, the affidavit stated.
Betts reportedly had a verbal argument with his girlfriend and she attempted to leave the 18-wheeler. Betts reportedly used a right open hand strike to his girlfriend’s left temple.
The girlfriend reportedly attempted to leave the 18-wheeler again, Betts grabbed her from behind and put both of his hands around her neck and strangled her, the affidavit stated.
ECSO deputies saw red marks to both sides of Betts’ girlfriend’s neck.
Betts was arrested, charged and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. He has one bond totaling $15,000 and he was in custody as of Tuesday afternoon, jail records show.
