Local talent to take part in SpongeBob Musical in Canyon

CANYON The popular Nickelodeon show will grace the stage for two weekends as “The SpongeBob Musical” will be staged at the Branding Iron Theatre inside the Sybil B. Harrington Fine Arts Complex on the campus of West Texas A&M University.

The deeply-silly family-friendly musical, which will take place at 7:30 p.m. from April 14-16 and 22-23 and 2:30 p.m. on April 24, will feature a couple of actors from the Odessa-Midland area.

The play is based on the endlessly popular children’s show SpongeBob SquarePants.

Playing the role as the Bikini Bottom mayor is Odessan Spencer Lee, a senior musical theater major.

Odessan Cassidy Horton who is currently a junior musical theatre major will play the role as the foley artist fish.

R.J. Flud, who is a junior musical theater major form Midland will play the role of Sheldon J. Plankton.

The Permian Playhouse will also be doing “The SpongeBob Musical” in July with audition dates set for May 13, 14 and 15.
