A suspect arrested by police more than a week ago on the charge of sexually assaulting a child was additionally charged Thursday after being found in possession of child pornography.
The suspect, 43-year-old Leoncio Espinoza Jr., was charged with possession of child pornography, a second-degree felony, after detectives obtained a search warrant for three of Espinoza’s cell phones, an Odessa Police Department news release stated.
Espinoza was first charged on May 23 with two counts of sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony, after a sexual assault involving a 15-year-old girl was reported to the Odessa Police Department, the release detailed.
Investigation revealed Espinoza had reportedly been sexually assaulting the girl for the past 10 years, the release stated.
Jail records show Espinoza has been in the Ector County Detention Center since May 24 and has three bonds totaling $225,000.
