OPD: Man pointed gun at wife

After reportedly pointing a gun at his wife’s head and throwing her against the wall, police charged a man Sunday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

Police were called about a domestic disturbance around 1:42 a.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of Southbrook Court, where they made contact with the 36-year-old victim and her husband, 30-year-old Rigoberto Aguirre, who was found to be intoxicated, the release stated.

Aguirre reportedly grabbed a loaded gun and pointed it at his wife’s head during an argument, the release detailed, then grabbed her and threw her against the wall.

Surveillance video showed Aguirre assaulting his wife, the release stated, and he was charged and arrested accordingly.

Jail records show Aguirre was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Sunday and was released Monday on a $25,000 bond.
