Men charged in connection to theft, forgery investigation

The Odessa Police Department has arrested a 45-year-old man and 38-year-old after they were reportedly involved in a theft and forgery investigation.

Christopher Pattan Giles Jr., 45, has been charged with theft of property, a third-degree felony, and Mario Marcus Costa Jr., 38, has been charged with forgery, a state jail felony. Giles is also being held by the U.S. Marshals.

At 8:21 a.m. April 28, officers responded to the 8500 block of Cornell Avenue in reference to a stolen vehicle, an OPD press release detailed.

Investigation reportedly showed an unknown subject stole a black 2017 Cadillac CTSV. The suspect also took approximately $13,000 worth of property, including golf clubs and a checkbook.

At 10:11 p.m. April 28, officers responded to the Kwik Kash located at 2804 Andrews Highway in reference to a forgery in progress, the press release stated. Officers made contact with Costa, who had attempted to cash a check belonging to the owner of the Cadillac CTSV.

Through the course of the investigation, OPD reportedly found the stolen Cadillac CTSV in the area of Yukon Road and North County Road West. OPD detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence located in the 800 block of West Yukon Road. OPD detectives found narcotics, the stolen golf clubs and the rest of the stolen checks.

Investigation reportedly showed Giles had been in possession of the stolen Cadillac CTSV. More stolen property was located in connection to auto burglaries from Cornell Avenue. More charges are anticipated and the investigation continues.

Giles has one bond totaling $20,000 and was still in custody as of Friday afternoon, jail records show. Costa has one bond totaling $3,000 and was still in custody as of Friday afternoon.
