Man charged with sexually assaulting five-year-old

Odessa police charged a man Friday after he reportedly admitted to sexually assaulting a five-year-old boy.

Officers responded to the incident around 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of Moody Avenue, according to a probable cause affidavit, after the child told his guardian that 18-year-old Charles Chambers touched him inappropriately.

Upon arrival, police made contact with Charles Wilbur Chambers Jr., the report stated, who told police he did some inappropriate things to a five-year-old that he was not supposed to do while they were laying in bed watching television and playing on a tablet.

Chambers was then charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, the release said.

Jail records show Chambers was taken to the Ector County Detention Center on Saturday and has a $50,000 bond.
