Man arrested on family violence charges after rollover

A man was arrested on family violence charges, after an incident on the road flipped a vehicle in a major rollover crash.

Elgin James Castillo, 36, was arrested around 9:45 p.m. April 5 on felony charges of assault family violence with prior convictions.

An Odessa police news release states officers responded to the 2400 block of North Grandview that evening to find a Nissan Sentra upside down, then made contact with a 38-year-old woman and Castillo, identified as her husband.

The release states that investigation revealed Castillo began to yell at his wife as the two were driving, refusing to pull over when she asked, then hitting her in the face with a closed fist and biting her, before he lost control of the car and it rolled over.

Officers observed bodily injury to the woman’s face, including two bite marks, the release states.

Investigation also revealed Castillo had a prior conviction in regards to assault family violence, and he was arrested and charged and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
