Burglary call leads to drug arrest

A 30-year-old Odessa man was arrested on multiple drug charges Tuesday night following a burglary call.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, dispatchers received a call around 8 p.m. Tuesday about a man trying to break into a closed Verizon Wireless store on Linda Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found Jesse Galindo, 30, outside appearing confused and under the influence of something other an alcohol, the report stated.

The officers learned Galindo had an outstanding warrant and was taken to the Ector County jail, the report stated.

According to the report, Galindo told officers he didn’t have any narcotics, but jail cameras captured him dropping a plastic bag on the ground in a jail sally port.

Inside the bag was eight grams of methamphetamine, eight grams of cocaine, more than two grams of Xanax and five grams of M30 pills that are known to have traces of fentanyl, the report stated.

Galindo was arrested on suspicion of three counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication.

He remained in the Ector County jail Wednesday night on surety bonds totaling $172,000.
