1. An Odessa judge said an Odessa police officer may have lied seeking a search warrant to cover up an illegal raid of an Odessa hotel room late last month.


2. A Midland man was killed during a predawn collision Wednesday when his full-size truck rolled off Interstate 20 and he was thrown from the vehicle.


3. When Cynthia Ramos became a school counselor in 2000, she knew she had found her calling. A former elementary school teacher in public and parochial schools, Ramos is the counselor at Edward K. Downing Elementary School.


4. The 28th annual Great Texas Soup Cook-off has been scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Martin County Community Center, 301 N. St. Theresa St., Stanton.


5. IN SPORTS: The Permian boys basketball team, which earned the No. 2 seed in District 2-6A, will meet El Paso Coronado, the No. 3 seed from District 1-6A, in a Class 6A bi-district playoff game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sul Ross State University in Alpine.
