ECTOR COUNTY FELONY DISPOSITIONS Jan. 7, 2018

The following is a list of felony dispositions from the Ector County District Clerk’s Office. Listed attorneys do not necessarily represent who was involved when the case was disposed. The prosecuting attorney was not listed unless otherwise stated.

ABANDONING/ENDANGERING CHILD

  • Michael Carl, 35, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to abandoning or endangering a child and was sentenced to six months in state jail. Judge John Smith approved the deal. Kevin Acker was the defense attorney.

ASSAULT

  • Tommi Umu, 24, pleaded guilty Nov. 8 to assault on a public servant and was sentenced to five years probation and deferred adjudication. Judge James Rush approved the deal. Justin Low was the defense attorney.
  • Morgan Marie Crumpley, 22, had a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence) dismissed Dec. 20. Judge Denn Whalen presided. Don Fletcher was the defense attorney.
  • Justin Roberts Johnson, 25, had a charge of assault by strangulation (family violence) dismissed Dec. 20 because he pleaded guilty to charges in another case. Smith presided. Low was the defense attorney.
  • Raistlin Miller, 19, pleaded guilty Dec. 20 to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to 10 years probation and deferred adjudication. Judge Stacy Trotter approved the deal. Julie Prentiss was the defense attorney.

BURGLARY

  • Ginovan Rojas, 35, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to burglary of a building and was sentenced to four years probation and deferred adjudication. Trotter approved the deal. Tony Chavez was the defense attorney.
  • Dezanae Scaggs, 21, pleaded guilty Dec. 20 to burglary of a habitation and was sentenced to six years probation and deferred adjudication. Trotter approved the deal. Chavez was the defense attorney.

DEBIT CARD ABUSE

  • Shelby Rebekah Swinford, 27, pleaded guilty Dec. 21 to debit card abuse and two counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle and was sentenced to 15 months in state jail and 16 months in state jail, respectively, on those charges. Swinford also had a charge of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information dismissed as part of the deal. Rush approved the deal. Fletcher was the defense attorney.
  • Jason Christopher Walker, 40, pleaded guilty Dec. 21 to debit card abuse and was sentenced to 14 months in state jail. Rush approved the deal. J. Roxane Blount was the defense attorney.

DWI WITH CHILD PASSENGER

  • Juan Caballero Dominguez, 44, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age and was sentenced to two years probation. Dominguez also had a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, dismissed as part of the deal. Smith approved the deal. Tommy Hull was the defense attorney.
  • James Lee Simons, 39, pleaded guilty Dec. 20 to driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age and was sentenced to 14 months in state jail. Whalen approved the deal. Blount was the defense attorney.

EVADING ARREST

  • James Pete Garrison, 34, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to evading arrest with a previous conviction and was sentenced to two years in state jail. Garrison also had another charge of evading arrest with a vehicle dismissed as part of the deal. Smith and Whalen approved the deal. Gary Garrison was the defense attorney.
  • Quincy Harold Williams, 42, had a charge of evading arrest with a vehicle dismissed Dec. 19 due to insufficient evidence. Smith presided. Mike Holmes was the defense attorney.

FORGERY

  • Argelia Ceja Reyes, 46, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to forgery of a financial instrument and was sentenced to three years probation and deferred adjudication. Smith approved the deal. Chris Fostel was the defense attorney.

FRAUDULENT USE/POSSESSION OF IDENTIFYING INFORMATION

  • Jennifer Anzaldua, 42, had a charge of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information dismissed Dec. 5 due to insufficient evidence. Rush presided. Chavez was the defense attorney.
  • Javier Maldonado, 32, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, less than five items, and was sentenced to 326 days in state jail. Maldonado was given credit for time served, and also had a charge of tampering with a government record (insurance document) dismissed. Smith approved the deal. Gary Garrison was the defense attorney.
  • Erasmo Jovani Morales, 27, had a charge of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, less than five items, dismissed Dec. 20 because he pleaded guilty to charges in county court. Smith presided. Chavez was the defense attorney.

INJURY TO CHILD/ELDERLY/DISABLED PERSON

  • Stephen Keith Cupps, 31, had a charge of injury to a child, elderly or disabled person with intent to cause bodily injury dismissed Dec. 21 because the victim requested that the case be dismissed. Trotter presided. Chavez was the defense attorney.

MANUFACTURE/DELIVERY OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

  • Tara S. Bearden, 33, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, four grams or more but less than 200 grams, and was sentenced to eight years probation and deferred adjudication. Smith approved the deal. Jason Leach was the defense attorney.

MURDER

  • Nathon Gregory Gaytan, 27, pleaded guilty Dec. 20 to murder and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. Trotter approved the deal. Lawrence Barber Jr. was the defense attorney.

POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

  • Janice Elaine Amos, 56, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to 180 days in state jail. Trotter approved the deal. Barber was the defense attorney.
  • Ramon Alejandro Ramirez, 32, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to possession of a controlled substance, one gram or more but less than four grams, and was sentenced to two years in prison. Trotter approved the deal. Thomas Morgan was the defense attorney.
  • Aaron Rodriguez, 34, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to six months in state jail. Smith approved the deal. David Zavoda was the defense attorney.
  • Desiree Bustos, 22, pleaded guilty Dec. 20 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to five years probation and deferred adjudication. Trotter approved the deal. Robert Hollmann was the defense attorney.
  • Randy Lee Compton, 27, pleaded guilty Dec. 20 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to four years probation and deferred adjudication. Trotter approved the deal. Hollmann was the defense attorney.
  • Crystal Lee Lujan, 36, pleaded guilty Dec. 20 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to two years probation and deferred adjudication. Whalen approved the deal. Jerry Caddel was the defense attorney.
  • Steven Boyd Smith, 37, pleaded guilty Dec. 20 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to two years probation and deferred adjudication. Whalen approved the deal. Hollmann was the defense attorney.
  • Ramon Payen Moreno, 51, had charges of possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram; and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair dismissed Dec. 21 due to insufficient evidence. Smith presided. Daniel Sarabia Jr. was the defense attorney.
  • David Salas Jr., 38, pleaded guilty Dec. 21 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram and was sentenced to two years probation and deferred adjudication. Rush approved the deal. Fletcher was the defense attorney.
  • Leah Suchla, 22, pleaded guilty Dec. 21 to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine); possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram; and bail jumping and failure to appear and was sentenced to five years probation and deferred adjudication. THEFT

  • Nicholas Thompson, 37, had a charge of aggregated theft dismissed Dec. 3 because he paid restitution in full. Rush presided. Jason Schoel was the defense attorney.
  • Brandon Lynn Pourner, 36, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to theft of property, $2,500 or more but less than $30,000, and was sentenced to 12 months in state jail. Trotter approved the deal. Matt Thomas was the defense attorney.
  • Jose Sergio Ayala, 43, had a charge of theft of property, less than $2,500, with two or more previous convictions dismissed Dec. 20 due to double jeopardy. Rush presided. Fostel was the defense attorney.
