David Ray Barraza

March 24 Odessa police arrested 44-year-old David Ray Barraza and charged him with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a state jail felony; tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felony; and public intoxication (habitual offender), a class B misdemeanor. Officers made contact with a man, identified as Barraza, who was extremely intoxicated in the 400 block of South Grant Avenue at 10:25 p.m. March 24. Police saw a white substance inside of Barraza’s mouth. When then they asked Barraza to open his mouth, he spit out a bag containing a white powdery substance. The substance tested positive for cocaine. Investigation revealed that Barraza had three prior convictions for public intoxication within the last twenty-four months. Barraza, 1815 N. Tripp Ave., was being held March 28 at the Ector County Detention Center on $23,000 bond.
