Jan. 8, Odessa police arrested 19-year-old Daniel Bugayong and charged him with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a state jail felony; and driving while intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor. Officers saw a black 2012 Ford F-150 sitting through two cycles at a stoplight at 6:22 a.m. Jan. 8 at the intersection of University Boulevard and Dixie Boulevard. The driver appeared to be asleep. Police made contact with the driver, identified as Bugayong, and could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him. Bugayong failed field sobriety tests. Officers searched the vehicle and found a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine in the center console. Bugayong, 908 W. 22nd St., was released Jan. 9 from the Ector County Detention Center on $8,000 bond.
