COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UTPB falls in doubleheader against Lubbock Christian

Falcons fall

Rowan Mackenzie scored 22 points to lead Lubbock Christian to an 83-74 victory against UTPB in Lone Star Conference play Thursday at the Falcon Dome.

Kendall Dow added 18 points for the Chaps (9-4 overall, 5-2 in conference), with Najeeb Muhammad and Kurt Wegscheider each finishing with 16 points in the victory.

Wegschider also pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.

DaJuan Jones and Azariah Seay each scored 24 points for the Falcons (8-8, 2-5), with Jalen King finishing with 12 in the loss.

Jones had a game-high seven assists.

UTPB returns to the court against West Texas A&M at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Falcon Dome.

Women too

Grace Foster scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Lubbock Christian women’s basketball team to a 73-60 victory against UTPB in Lone Star Conference place Thursday at the Falcon Dome.

Audrey Robertson finished with 18 points and Maci Maddox added 13 for the Lady Chaps (11-4 overall, 6-1 in conference).

Alexus Quaadman and Avalon Munoz each had 17 points to lead the Falcons (6-8, 3-5), with Morgan Helgesen chipping in 12.

The game was close after three quarters as Lubbock Christian led by two, 46-44, before breaking the game open in the fourth quarter.

UTPB returns to action against West Texas A&M at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Falcon Dome.
