H-E-B gifts 4,500 floral bouquets for Military Spouse Appreciation Day

Gifts for Military Spouse Appreciation Day

In celebration of National Military Spouse Appreciation Day, H-E-B Partners handed out 4,500 floral bouquets to military spouses at military bases and community events across Texas, a press release detailed.

Each year, H-E-B shows its unwavering support for dedicated military spouses and recognizes their significant contributions and sacrifices. First established by President Reagan in 1984 and celebrated on the Friday before Mother’s Day, Military Spouse Appreciation Day encourages everyone to recognize military spouses and the meaningful impact they have on our military communities.

Over the past eight years, H-E-B has hosted appreciation events, which have served thousands of military spouses, the supportive foundation serving alongside those in the U.S. Armed Forces, the press release stated. H-E-B’s Military Spouse Appreciation Day events are one of many efforts associated with the company’s Operation Appreciation program, a year-round effort that honors and supports active duty service members, military Veterans and their families.

Launched in 2013, H-E-B’s Operation Appreciation is aimed at supporting, honoring, and providing employment opportunities to military service members and their families.

Through H-E-B Operation Appreciation, H-E-B has hired thousands of Veterans and active-duty service members, including their family members. Additionally, H-E-B’s annual donation campaign raises funds for the homes and other military-serving non-profits, including the Military Child Education Coalition, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and the United Service Organizations.

The program has provided more than $10 million in support to dozens of military-based nonprofits in Texas as well as efforts that provide mortgage-free homes to severely wounded Veterans.

As part of the H-E-B Homes Built for Heroes program, which is a component of H-E-B’s Operation Appreciation, H-E-B and the H-E-B Tournament of Champions have gifted 35 mortgage-free, fully furnished custom homes to severely wounded military Veterans since 2013. H-E-B and the H-E-B Tournament of Champions will dedicate six homes in 2022.

Additionally, H-E-B holds several events throughout the year to celebrate military spouses, support youth education initiatives, and honor holidays such as Independence Day, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day. And to offer a taste of home, H-E-B sends hundreds of care packages to service members deployed across the world.

H-E-B has regularly been named a top workplace for military Veterans and was recognized in 2021 by Forbes as a top employer for Veterans, coming in as the fourth highest ranked Texas company on the list.

Since 2014, H-E-B has hired more than 20,000 Veterans and military spouses.
