LETTER TO THE EDITOR: My “Pops”

My dad, “Pops” always planted a garden in our backyard. I would see him turn the dirt in preparation for the seeds. He was laying the foundation so that the garden would grow into it’s individual beauty. Pops tended to his garden daily, never failing to water as needed. “Mijo”, un jarden, necesita tu attencion para que cresca fuerte.”

Dad would plant that seed and magically it would resurrect from its tomb in the ground. What a blessing. Dad would nurture his garden and it would always look beautiful. The look and the happy expressions I remember on his face, as he worked in his garden are priceless. Total expressions of his love and caring nature. What a blessing from pops my dad and his garden in his back yard. He planted many seeds and prepared a solid foundation that continues to resurrect a life full of love and hope.

This wonderful memory of my dad comes to mind this spring season, for we are being asked to tend to our garden within our community. The ECISD Bond that represents our students and their future. We are responsible for that solid foundation that our students need to succeed and prosper. Let’s be good stewards of our garden and Vote Yes for ECISD Proposition A and Vote Yes for ECISD Proposition B this Saturday, May 7th.
