WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Falcons see losing streak continue against West Texas A&M

CANYON The UTPB women’s basketball team, despite a late push, couldn’t jump ahead in its 61-44 loss to West Texas A&M in Lone Star Conference play Saturday on the road.

West Texas A&M built a lead from the opening tip and maintained its advantage through all four quarters.

UTPB’s strongest push came with about eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, when a 6-0 scoring run brought West Texas A&M’s lead down to two points.

The Buffaloes outscored the Falcons 18-3 after the scoring burst to end any hopes of a comeback.

UTPB (4-13 overall, 0-5 conference) suffered its fifth straight loss and fell to last place in the conference standings.

Avalon Munoz led the Falcons with eight points, while Holly Hemmeline and Alexus Wykoff contributed six points each.
