HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Lady Panthers clinch playoff berth in rout

MIDLAND Audrina Ramirez was 3 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Permian softball team to an 11-1 victory Tuesday at Gene Smith Field.

Iliana Garcia and Makayla Sanchez each added two hitts and two RBIs to the victory.

Permian improved to 18-7-2 overall and 6-1 in District 2-6A, moving into sole possession of first place and clinching a playoff spot with three games remaining in the regular season.

Anaya Paredes allowed two hits and one run in seven innings to earn the victory.

The Lady Panthers scored a solo run in the top of the first inning, took control of the game with three runs in the third inning and broke things open with five runs in the fifth inning.

The Lady Rebels scored once in the bottom of the fifth inning to avoid the shutout.
