HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASTICS: ECISD athletes close out first day of state meet

ROCKWALL The compulsory round of the 2022 Texas High School Gymnastics State Championships took place Thursday at Rockwall High School.

Permian’s boys team finished the opening round in 10th place with a 154.65 team score, led by an 11th-place standing in the all-around from Sincere Galindo.

Galindo put up a 55.90 score, while Odessa High’s Jabezz Chavez was 19th with a 53.50.

Chavez was joined by Broncho teammate Jesse Hernandez, who put up a 48.40 for 29th place.

Isabella Fanucci and Sydney Vaughn represented the Lady Panthers, competing in the girls all-around.

Fanucci finished the first round with a 36.725 to take 40th in the standings, while Vaughn put up a 36.625 for 43rd.

The state meet will continue with an optional round Friday, starting at 9 a.m. for the boys and 4 p.m. for the girls.
