HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Wink qualifies for State 7-on-7 Tournament

SONORA The Wink Wildcats earned a qualifying spot to the Texas 7-on-7 State Tournament after defeating host Sonora 32-26 at the Sonora State Qualifying Tournament. The Wildcats went on to defeat Miles 27-22 in the championship game. Miles defeated Brady 32-27 to earn the other state qualifying spot.

This is the second time in three years that the Wildcats have qualified for state after earning a spot in the Division III bracket in 2019.

Alpine is the other area Division III qualifier after winning in Wink last weekend while Midland Lee and Midland Christian have qualified for state in Division I.

The state tournament is slated to take place June 24-26 at Veterans Park in College Station.
