ABILENE The Permian football team closed out nondistrict play with a 41-20 win over Abilene Cooper Friday at Shotwell Stadium.
The Panthers moved to 3-2 for the season with the win while the Cougars fell to 1-4.
Permian took a 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter before making it 27-13 at halftime.
The Panthers scored in the third and fourth quarters.
Permian will now have a bye week before beginning District 2-6A play against Odessa High on Oct. 6 at Ratliff Stadium.
