With less than five minutes remaining in the second quarter, it was a one-possession game between the Odessa High and Wolfforth Frenship boys basketball teams.
When the buzzer sounded for halftime, the outcome was no longer in doubt.
Patton Pinkins scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Tigers to an 89-58 victory against the Bronchos to open District 2-6A play Friday at the OHS Fieldhouse.
Jalen Braziel finished with 17 points, Armani Gacanica added 11 and Daniel Gedeon contributed 10 to the victory.
Wolfforth Frenship now is 20-3 overall, 1-0 in district.
Odessa High drops to 15-10, 0-1.
Ivan Carreon and Jordan Bruner each scored 15 points to lead the Bronchos, with Mason Wright finishing with 11 points off the bench, including a trio of 3-pointers.
Odessa High had pulled to within two (26-24) with 4:57 remaining to play in the second quarter after Jtorian Deary-Johnson converted a pair of free throws.
That seemed to wake up the Tigers, who closed out the first half on a 13-1 run to lead 39-25 after 16 minutes.
