HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Willis leads Bronchos to victory over Abilene High

ABILENE After building a big lead in the first quarter, the Odessa High boys basketball team held off an Abilene High surge to win 70-59 in District 2-6A play Tuesday.

LJ Willis scored 25 points to lead the Bronchos, while Coco Rose contributed 17 and Ivan Carreon recorded 16.

The Bronchos held a 31-18 lead at the halftime break and saw their advantage dwindle after being outscored 25-21 in the third quarter.

Odessa High closed out the win by outscoring the Eagles by two points in the fourth quarter.

Hayden Williams led Abilene High with 27 points in the contest.

The Bronchos (22-7 overall, 6-3 district) will host district leading Wolfforth Frenship at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the OHS Fieldhouse.
