The Permian boys basketball couldn’t get to the final buzzer.

Wolfforth Frenship’s Patton Pinkins scored a game-high 36 points to lead the Tigers to an 81-72 victory against the Panthers in District 2-6A action Friday at the Permian Fieldhouse.

Tate Beeles added 15 points, Chase Campbell chipped in 12 and Jalen Braziel finished with 10 in the victory.

Wolfforth Frenship now is 22-3 overall, 3-0 in district.

Permian dropped to 14-9, 1-2.

Ben Saldivar and Jamibrione Anderson each scored 19 points to lead the Panthers, with Ryale Moses adding 12 and Race Herr 10 to the loss.

Permian led, 43-37, at halftime after outscoring the Tigers 27-12 in the second quarter.

Pinkins took over the second half, however, scoring 25 points after the break as Wolfforth Frenship pulled within one (61-60) after three quarters before taking control in the fourth quarter.

The difference came at the free throw line as the Tigers were 19 of 22 on the night, with the Panthers hitting 9 of 10 attempts.

First district win

MIDLAND Ivan Carreon scored a team-high 13 points to lead Odessa High past Midland Legacy, 67-62, in boys District 2-6A play Friday at Midland Legacy.

Naledge Jenkins finished with 12 points, Adrian Muzquiz added 11 and Jtorian Deary-Johnson and Jordan Bruner each chipped in 10 to the victory.

Odessa High improved to 16-11 overall, 1-2 in district.

The Rebels dropped to 3-21, 0-3.

Colin Brazzell scored a game-high 18 points to lead Midland Legacy, with Max Vera adding 17 and Cutter Clark 10 in the loss.

Odessa High opened the game on a 17-0 run and led 17-3 after the first quarter.

The Bronchos extended their lead at halftime (32-16) and the third quarter (49-30), then had to weather a storm as the Rebels had a chance to tie with less than 10 seconds to play.

Rout

The Permian girls basketball team, undermanned and overmatched, could not stop visiting Wolfforth Frenship.

Addisyn Bollinger had a game-high 16 points off the bench to lead the Lady Tigers to a 65-23 rout of the Lady Panthers in District 2-6A play Friday at the Permian Fieldhouse.

Gabby Morales finished with 13 points, Abbi Holder and Abby Boyce each chipped in 12 and Andie Caddel added 10.

Wolfforth Frenship improved to 22-5 overall, 5-0 in district.

Permian dropped to 11-12, 1-4.

Bailey Wight led the Lady Panthers with eight points.

The Lady Tigers took control early, leading by 11 points (19-8) after the first quarter and 17 (32-15) at halftime.

They were just getting started, however, as they outscored Permian 33-8 in the second half for the runaway victory.
