HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Panthers split tournament games

LUBBOCK The Permian baseball team earned a split of its games at the First Bank Classic Saturday.

In the first game, El Paso Americas pounded out 21 hits and took advantage of some Panthers’ miscues to run away to a 22-8 victory in a morning contest.

Permian responded against Lubbock Coronado with a 20-7 victory against the Mustangs.

The Panthers will take the next few days off before facing Odessa High at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at McCanlies Field in the first game of a three-game series between the crosstown rivals.
