COLLEGE BASEBALL: UTPB gets solid start to series against Cameron

The UTPB baseball team made the most of its 24-hour wait, hammering our 14 hits in a 16-6 run-rule victory against Cameron University in seven innings Saturday at Roden Field.

The Falcons broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth inning, followed by six more in the fifth.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday afternoon, but was postponed because of the wintery weather in the Permian Basin.

The teams will meet for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, also at Roden Field.

Devin Ferrari was 3 for 5 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs for the Falcons (5-17 overall, 4-17 Lone Star Conference).

Jordan Harrison was 1 for 3 with one run scored and three RBIs for Cameron (6-10, 6-9).
