COLLEGE FOOTBALL: UTPB holds off Midwestern State in conference road game

WICHITA FALLS The UTPB Falcons pulled off a 21-13 win over Midwestern State in a Lone Star Conference game Saturday on the road.

The Falcons moved to 5-1 overall, 3-0 in conference while the Mustangs fell to 2-3, 1-2.

Touchdown runs from UTPB’s Kory Harris and Nemier Herod gave the Falcons a 14-3 lead in the first quarter.

Midwestern State managed to cut it to a one-point game after a 40-yard field goal by Ritse Vaes in the fourth quarter.

However, Herod’s four-yard touchdown carry with 9:09 left in the game ended up being more than enough for the Falcons to get their third conference win of the season.

UTPB quarterback Kenny Hrncir went 14-of-27 for 232 yards passing while Herod had 14 carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns.

Wide receiver Ben Patterson had four receptions for 100 yards for the Falcons.

UTPB will be back at home next week with a 6 p.m. conference game against Eastern New Mexico at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland.
