The UTPB baseball team built a five run lead in the third inning and stayed in front, taking a 14-7 win over UT-Tyler Friday at Roden Field.
Playing the first game of this weekend’s series, the Falcons moved to 17-22 overall and 15-22 in Lone Star Conference.
Pitcher Trevor Barth took the victory on the mound, moving to 4-4 for the season while UT-Tyler’s Dylan Blomquist took the loss.
By the end of the fifth inning, the Falcons had a 10-1 lead and a four-run surge by UT-Tyler in the seventh inning wasn’t enough to make up the ground.
UTPB will face UT-Tyler in a double-header Saturday, beginning at noon before finishing up the series on Sunday at noon.
