NUGGETS: God doesn’t grade on a curve

By Jannie Linney

I was reading the account in the Bible about Lazarus and the rich man [Luke 16:19-30]. How Lazarus, who was a beggar, laid at the gate full of sores. He was so poor he desired to be fed with the crumbs from the rich man’s table. The dogs would come by and lick his sores. Let’s just say his life left a lot to be desired. There was no Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare or food stamps. After a time he died. The Bible says he was carried by an angel to be with Abraham in the place of the righteous dead, into Abraham’s bosom.

The rich man died and was buried; and being tormented in hell, he lifted up his eyes, at a far distant he saw Abraham and Lazarus in his bosom. The rich man begged Abraham to please send Lazarus with a little water to cool his tongue, because he was in torment by the flames of fire. Abraham reminded the rich man that he had it really good in his life and Lazarus had it really bad in his life. I believe Abraham was reminding the rich man that he gave Lazarus no help and what goes around comes around. What a person sows is what he reaps. If a person does not sow, he does not reap. Expressing how things are now turned around.

Whoever a person serves and lives with here on earth will be the one they serve and live with for all eternity. The Bible is our truth, it is our instructions from our creator and it teaches that There is a great gulf fixed between the saved and the unsaved.

“It is appointed for man once to die and then the judgment,” so there is no second chance after death. Regardless of what is being taught, we do not come back for a second and third life. If a person came back as a bug or cow, that would not be evolution, it would be regression.

The Lord showed me that “people think the Bible says what they believe” instead of lining their belief up with what the Bible says. God does not grade on a curve just because He loves us. He will not make Himself a liar just because we refuse to study the truth. He is a good God and will give us every advantage, yet He will not go against His word. We do not want to trust our eternity, our forever and ever, on these false teachings, that lets us live our will, pretending there is no consequences. The people of the world say, “What goes around, comes around,” not knowing that is a Bible truth. God does not grade on the curve!

“Then [the rich man] he said father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame” [Luke 16:24]. We see there is a hell, that it has no water, there is fire and it is a place of torment. Just because people Refuses to believe all this, it does not change the truth. God loves you so much He sent His Son to die so you can be saved. Why not choose Him today? Ask Him to forgive you of all your sins, all the sins you have ever committed! Then ask Him to come into your heart and teach you how to live. No sin is too bad for Him to forgive, that is what He died on the cross for. No person has been too bad for Him to love. He is Love. God does not grade on a curve. You have been bold and tried about everything else and you are still not happy! What do you have to lose? Don’t be like the rich man! He wishes now he had at least tried!!!
