“Say you not, ‘there are yet four months and then cometh the harvest’? I say unto, lift up your eyes and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” [John 4:35].
This is the subject of the lesson, and we have heard this taught many times, by many pastors. It is defiantly a soul winning message. Could we look and see if there is something more God is trying to tell us.
Look back at verse 31 and 32. The disciples were concerned about Jesus needing to eat. But Jesus said unto them ”I have meat you know not of.” Now we know He was not talking about physical food. However, the disciples, still thinking in the natural, ask their buddies, “did you give Him something to eat?” Jesus heard and responded to them, ”My meat is to do the will of Him that sent me, and to finish His work.” See, He is not our insurance agent, we are his hands, His feet and His Body here on earth. Over and over we learn that He is still the Head!
The Bible talks about Milk, Meat and Strong meat. Many Christians stay in the Milk of the word. All their Christian life. Without condemnation, Jesus was telling them, My meat is to do the will of the Father. Meat is to realize, No. 1, we are sent out. There are no pew warmers in the kingdom. The word Laity was designed by man, everyone was created to be a minister, there is a calling on the life of every person. Now, not everyone will stand behind the pulpit, we will minister as we go, like Jesus did.
Then No. 2, we are to do the will of the Father. Not what we choose to do according to our left-over time or if we want to do it or not. As children of God and ministers of the kingdom, we will not choose our ministry, we will discover it. In that place of ministry is the only place we will ever be happy, even if it is hard.
Also No. 3, to finish what we were sent to do. Paul said I have finished the race, I have fought a good fight. Paul knew he was sent and what race he was to run. Those that endure to the end will be saved, [Matt 24:13]. Continuing to speak to the disciples, Jesus said “You say, there are yet four months, and then comes the harvest?” Still thinking in the natural [the flesh], they forgot who they were talking to. They were believing for what had always been. They did not understand that faith in Jesus could change what they had grown accustomed to. Then Jesus said “Behold, I say unto you” — Listen up, those that have ears to hear, I’ll help you move out of the fleshly way of thinking. “Lift up your eyes” — see the higher things. My ways are higher than yours, My thoughts are higher than yours “Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” If you lift up your eyes and look, you will see in the Spirit, Salvation is available every day, every season, for every person. The Bible says “Today is the day of salvation.”
When someone Loves the Lord with their whole mind, will and emotions, they can’t keep from telling others about Jesus. It’s just built into them. That’s why that when someone is like that, they get on the nerves of the unsaved or the barely saved. We all need to ask ourselves do we really have a relationship with our savior, do we take Him with us everywhere we go, is He welcome in the crowds where we hang out. Do the people we come in contact with see the fruit of Christ operating in and through us?
You may not have that kind of relationship with The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Why waste anymore of your life with emptiness and lack of real purpose? Jesus knew you before the world began, He created and formed you in your mother’s womb. He had a plan for you and a purpose that far passes anything you could ever imagine. You will never really be happy until you are in the place God created you to fit into. No one can do that for you, God gave us free choice. No person is too bad for him to Love. No sin is too horrible for Him to forgive. Just ask Him to forgive you and please come into your heart. Then Believe in what He has already done! You see, He didn’t waste his time, coming to earth and dying on the cross for your sins, if it wasn’t going to work! You are part of that white field that He wants to gather unto Himself and Love for all eternity. Today is the day of Salvation.
