LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Be thankful for what you have

By Joe Beene, Odessa

I’m thankful to be able to live in a free country, I’m very thankful to God The Father for every good thing we have here, in the freedom of the United States of America.

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.

I believe we should want to be right in all things we do, because it’s the correct thing to be done. not because if we’re doing right things, that makes us correct and others (that we usually don’t like) wrong. trying to be correct just in order for us to prove we’re always right and others are wrong, is still wrong for us to do.

With that being said, after last night’s presidential speech I am very well pleased with our president and I’m very thankful and grateful to be American. It seems to be very tough to do anything in the public eye without being harshly criticized for either side, Democrats or Republicans. Whatever political side we choose there seems to be so much hatred from both sides (not everybody).

Whenever somebody gives up their life to do something good for ungrateful people it’s always criticized someway or somehow by the same people that the sacrifices were being made for.

The bible says for us to speak no evil of any man and the last days are marked by men speaking evil of dignitaries. 2 Peter 10 (which should never be done by believers in Christ Jesus, right?) you can fight with me all you want about politics.

I really don’t care. I’m really thankful for our president, what he’s doing and to live in a safe, protected and free land. We’re not in a civil war, were not controlled by gorilla leaders, we’re making progress financially, economically and we’re backing our closest friends, Israel.

Glory to God for real. Instead of griping for what we don’t have as a country, we should try to be thankful for at least one day for what we already have in this country. No president or country is perfect but what we’re complaining about not yet having in this country, most countries would give anything to have what we take for granted every day. Freedom and stability, safety, provision and protection.

There are two times when we should pray for our leaders. when we think they’re right and when we think they’re wrong. Most leaders were truly never loved nor appreciated by most until they had passed away. I’m very thankful to live in a free country protected by the Lord God Almighty and brave people. Thank you Mr. President and every person and leader that has ever made personal sacrifices so that others could freely live here. You don’t have to agree with me about politics, I don’t choose parties to try to prove I’m right and you’re wrong, but I do choose The Lord Jesus Christ and to be thankful and give thanks for the good He’s given to us.

If you’re against Donald Trump, instead of complaining , why not have the guts to ask the Lord God Almighty about him, the President.

God, The Father, has love for all men, and His answer back to you about the President, Mr. Donald J.Trump may shock and humble you.

Be blessed and much love always my friends.
