LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Group sending out false bond information

I just received in the mail a large post card request from a group called “Citizens For Responsible Government” that was mailed out of Midland encouraging people in Ector County to vote against the upcoming school bond election because in their words, “Over the past several years ECISD has been quietly hijacking the property tax savings the Texas Legislature meant you to have” and “ECISD refuses to list on the ballot any of the details of what they claim will be done with this massive bond.”

Why?

These statements are blatantly false and provide a great example of why people should look carefully at the misinformation that is sent to them.

My question is who are these people and what is their agenda? The school board and the bond committee have gone out of their way to explain what is needed, why, and where the money will be spent.

To ensure transparency, there will be a committee of local citizens who will oversee the expenditures. I wonder if these so called Citizens for Responsible Government have even visited the schools to see the shape they are in.

I have and I can tell you the current bond is simply the first step to what is truly needed. Just look at what Midland is asking for. I would challenge them to come and see. I would love to have an open debate with them
