Woman facing theft, burglary charges

An Odessa woman was arrested Friday on burglary and theft warrants issued after two separate incidents last year.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, Halifax Avenue residents called 911 on Sept. 6 to report to a disturbance.

The residents said that Sandra Acosta Medina, 47, and others had moved out of the Halifax Avenue residence about eight to nine months earlier, but didn’t take a number of belongings with them.

They told officers they put all of the group’s belongings in the garage so they could collect them on Sept. 6 and they locked their doors, the report stated.

According to the report, the residents said that when Medina and the others arrived to pick up the belongings, they broke windows to get inside and then assaulted them.

Medina was arrested on suspicion of burglary of a habitation and theft.

She was released from the Ector County jail Saturday after posting surety bonds totaling $25,500.

According to OPD records, the theft case stemmed from a Dec. 27 incident at the University Boulevard HEB.

According to an OPD report, Medina was positively identified as a woman seen on video surveillance walking out of HEB without paying for merchandise she concealed in her purse.
