Woman facing aggravated assault charge

An Odessa woman was arrested early Saturday morning after her daughter accused her of charging after the younger woman’s father with a knife.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, officers received a disturbance call from the 9100 block of Holiday around 2:30 a.m. Saturday and when they arrived, a woman told them her mother, Becky Almaguer, pulled a knife and started to charge her father from behind, but she was able to get the knife away from her.

Almaguer admitted she threw a coffee cup at her husband during an argument over messages she found on his phone, the report stated. She also acknowledged she grabbed something to go after him with, but said it could have been a spoon or a fork.

Almaguer was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

She was released Monday from the Ector County jail after posting a $20,000 surety bond.
