Woman arrested on suspicion of agg assault

A 43-year-old Odessa woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after her boyfriend told authorities she sliced his shoulder with a knife during an argument over the mother of his children.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, a 40-year-old man called authorities around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday from an apartment in the 1400 block of John Ben Shepperd Parkway.

The man told officers he and Leona Brock had been arguing since 7 a.m. that day over the fact he’d been on the phone with the mother of his children. According to the report, the man said Brock started breaking dishes and when he confronted her, she came at him with a knife twice.

Brock missed the first time, but got him in the back the second time, the man told officers.

Officers noted Brock suffered a cut from a seven-inch laceration on his back and he was taken to Medical Center Hospital for treatment.

Brock was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, a first-degree felony punishable by five years to life in prison.

Brock remains in the Ector County jail on a $75,000 surety bond.
