Woman accused of attacking husband’s girlfriend

A 38-year-old Odessa woman was arrested Oct. 13 after her husband’s new girlfriend accused her of throwing a metal drywall taping knife at her, striking her in the face.

According to an Ector County Sheriff’s Department report, deputies received a disturbance report around 9:30 p.m. from the 16000 block of West 29th Street and when they arrived, they found a 23-year-old woman with a laceration above her right eye.

The woman and a witness told deputies Cendy Rodriguez came to the home to see her husband, from whom she’d been separated for eight months, the report stated. The women said when Rodriguez saw her romantic rival, she shoved her with her shoulder and then after they were separated, threw the taping knife at the younger woman.

Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was released from the Ector County jail Oct. 14 after posting a $25,000 surety bond.
