Three killed in recent crashes

Three people were killed late last week on Permian Basin roads, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

An Odessa man and his passenger were killed Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash eight miles north of Goldsmith.

According to DPS, a preliminary investigation determined Irving Cortez-Morales, 31, and Alexis Rodriguez-Alvidrez, 25, of Pharr were traveling north on FM 181 in a GMC Sierra when a southbound Chevrolet Silverado veered into the northbound lane and struck them.

Cortez-Morales and Rodriguez-Alvirdrez, who were both wearing seat belts, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the GMC, a 41-year-old man from Odessa, who was also wearing a seat belt, was treated at Medical Center Hospital and released.

The driver of the Chevy, a 41-year-old man from Kenner, Louisiana was taken to Medical Center Hospital in stable condition. He, too, was seat belted.

On Thursday morning, Cody Wayne Satterfield, 37, of Seminole was killed when the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of his Harley Davidson on State Highway 214 roughly two miles southeast of Denver City. After being hit by the Chevy, Satterfield, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and hit by a Ford F-150. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
