Ector County ISD’s barbecue teams made a splash in the High School BBQ Inc. competition May 3 and 4 at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
The teams are taught by Culinary Instructor Christina Acosta at George H.W. Bush New Tech Odessa, but the students come from high schools across the district.
Adam Lopez placed 1st in Ribs and Alexa Rivera placed 3rd in chicken.
In beans, the BBQ Barbarians team placed 14th (Brenda Roman).
In chicken, Meat the Flintstones got third place (Alexa Soto); BBQ Barbarians got 15th (Brandon Lopez).
Ribs, Barbecue Barbarians got first place (Adam Lopez).
In brisket, BBQ Barbarians got 20th (Kayden Freeman).
Overall, the BBQ Barbarians got eight place.
