According to an Odessa Police Department report, officers received a 911 call around 1:15 p.m. Friday from Permian High School. Dispatchers were told someone in a silver Nissan Rogue was shooting at another vehicle and they provided dispatchers the license plate number.

Officers tracked the vehicle to the 1500 block of Douglas Drive and found Anthony Hernandez Campos, 17, in the driveway, the report stated. Hernandez admitted he had a loaded Glock 9mm in his pocket. According to the report, he further stated he chased down a car that had cut him off and when it sped up he fired two or three rounds upward before going home.

Three teenagers in the other vehicle, a BMW, told officers they’d been followed by the Nissan after a road rage incident, heard the gunfire and feared for their lives, according to the report.

The BMW’s cameras showed Campos extending the firearm out of the driver side window and firing two rounds skyward and before pointing the gun toward the BMW, the report stated.

Campos, who is listed as Anthony Campos Hernandez in jail records, was arrested on suspicion of three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison. He was also arrested on suspicion of unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Campos remained in the Ector County jail Monday on surety bonds totaling $76,500.
